Rooby's Story

Rooby is six years old and lives with her big mob under the Home Tree - a big shady paperbark.
Rooby loves lying under the Home Tree at night listening to stories told by her aunties and uncles about when they were growing up on the land. These stories take Rooby to places she never could have imagined and she is amazed at how different things were when her aunties and uncles were small.
The Home Tree is where all of Rooby's friends live. Rooby has lots of friends - there's Billy Booksie, The Reading Bug, Eddie Echidna, Poppy Possum, Ozzie Bird and Red See Read-a-saurus.
Rooby loves reading to all her friends, and telling her friends the stories that Rooby's family told to her. Rooby's friends love her stories and sharing books with her.
Going to Kangaroo School is one of Rooby's favourite things to do. At school her favourite things to do are reading or telling stories, singing, rhyming and dancing! Rooby's best dance is the hip-hop and she loves hip-hopping and singing with her friends.
Rooby loves travelling - whether it be in the stories she reads or with her big mob across the land. She carries all her favourite books in her pouch, and when she goes to the library she brings her library books home in her pouch. She loves taking new books back to the Home Tree at the end of the day, sitting under the big branches and reading with her friends.
Rooby was born with small ears. Her brothers and sisters make fun of her small ears and tell her to go away. Rooby doesn't mind too much when they tease her. She knows that the more books she reads and the more stories her friends and the big mob tell her, the bigger her ears will grow.
Another thing Rooby loves to do is to meet her human friends - all the children. She loves when they read books to her. It makes her really happy and it makes her ears grow bigger every single day! She knows that if she keeps reading, sharing stories, rhyming and singing that she will have big ears like her brothers and sisters in no time!
