"The children's section in particular encourages the development of early literacy and helps children become ready for reading and writing when they reach primary school, and then provides resources to assist them throughout their early school years", Mayor of Blacktown City, Councillor Alan Pendleton said.

The Mount Druitt Hub is jointly funded by Blacktown City Council and the Australian Government under the Australian Government's Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program Strategic Projects 2010 funding agreement.

A special Community Open Day to celebrate the open of The Mount Druitt Hub will be held on Saturday 19 November between 9.30am and 4pm. The day will feature reading with Rooby Roo from Paint Mount Druitt REaD, displays from local community groups, art, historical and photographic displays, live entertainment, technology demonstrations, storytime sessions, competitions, a BBQ and more.
