How to join

Joining the Library is free. Register online now, or visit one of the Library service points.


Types of membership

Full membership

Full library membership is available to anyone living in the greater Sydney Metropolitan Area, including the Blue Mountains and Central Coast.

  • Borrow up to 35 items
  • 1 hour computer use per day
  • Wireless Internet access
  • Access to online resources

Temporary membership

Visitors to the area are able to obtain a conditional temporary membership.
  • Valid for 12 weeks
  • Borrow up to 2 print items
  • 1 hour computer use per day
  • Wireless Internet access
  • Access to online resources

Institutional membership

Organisations may apply for institutional membership.
  • Borrow up to 35 items
  • Extended loan period
  • Access to online resources


ID requirements

Adults are required to provide proof of name and current address. Acceptable forms of identification include bills, bank statements or any other official documents which show both your name and address.

Persons under 18 years of age must have a parent, guardian or guarantor accompany them to the library to sign the application form on their behalf, and the parent or guardian must provide proof of their name and current address.

Overseas visitors need to provide proof of identity, such as a passport.

Organisations must provide an official letter on letterhead authorizing a named person to join on their behalf, and provide full contact details of that individual.


Conditions of membership

Using your card

Please present your library card when you wish to borrow or use computer facilities. You will need to know your library card number and PIN to sign in to your library account or to use some library services such computers and online resources.

Lost or stolen cards

Please advise the Library immediately if your library card is lost or stolen. Your first card is free with a charge for each replacement card issued.

Fees and charges

Library membership is free however there are fees and charges for some services which you should be aware of.

Update or re-register your library card

You can update your email address and PIN by signing in to your library account via the Library Catalogue. If you need to update or re-register your library card please contact us.
